Yawale Iliyasu

Dr. Yawale Iliyasu graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1982 with an MBBS degree. He is a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Pathology (1994), International of College of Surgeons – Surgical Pathology (2003), International Academy of Cytology (2008) and International Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (2010).

He was the Chief Consultant Histopathologist to the Nigerian Army from 1994-2006. He is now an Associate Professor of Pathology at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and the President of the West African Division of the International Academy of Pathology.

Dr. Iliyasu was a founding father of the College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa. He has published many papers in peer-review journals. His areas of interest are lymphomas (being a member of the Sub-Saharan African Lymphoma Consortium) and the development of molecular targeted therapy for Triple Negative Breast Cancers where he is working with the University of Alabama Comprehensive Cancer Center, USA.
