Staff Pediatric and Perinatal Pathologist, and Co-Director of The Cardiac Registry, Department of Pathology, Boston Children’s Hospital; Staff Perinatal Pathologist, Division of Women’s and Perinatal Pathology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Instructor of Pathology, Harvard Medical School.

Dr Carreon is a pediatric and perinatal pathologist with expertise in diagnosing childhood tumors, placental/ perinatal diseases, and various forms of congenital heart defects. In addition, Dr Carreon has significant experience in pediatric and fetal autopsies, and is a co-editor of the 2nd Edition of Color Atlas of Human Fetal and Neonatal Histology. She looks forward to participating in consultative review of cases, outreach teaching, mentorship, and research collaboration.

ASAP in collaboration with the College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (COPECSA) and Aga Khan University (AKU) held a successful 2.5 day workshop on cancer staging with over 20 pathologists from across the ECSA region and expert faculty from the United States, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

The workshop series, held November 16-18, 2018; at AKU in Nairobi, Kenya, featured the following cancers:

Head & Neck
Breast
Endometrial & Ovarian
Gastric & Esophageal.

The sessions consisted of short, 30 minute lectures covering the most important information for solving the cases, 2-hour sessions for completing cases in small groups, and a 1-hour session where challenging, local cases were reviewed by the expert faculty.
